Mission of the Faculty
The primary mission of the Flight Faculty of Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University is to train military aviation specialists for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and other military formations of Ukraine established in accordance with Ukrainian legislation, in compliance with the state defense order.
Benefits for Graduates
Upon graduation and appointment to officer positions, Flight Faculty graduates are entitled to the following benefits compared to other specialties:
- Preferential calculation of years in service (2 years credited for 1 calendar year);
- Increased monetary allowance;
- Additional preventive leave;
- Priority access to housing;
- Promotion to the next military rank one year earlier;
Free meals according to flight ration standards.
Faculty Overview
The Flight Faculty is one of the key organizational, educational, and research structural units of Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University.
The Faculty provides training for:
- Pilots of tactical and transport aviation aircraft
(including obtaining a Private Pilot License (PPL)); - Helicopter pilots;
- Navigators for transport and bomber aviation;
- Officers of aviation combat control;
- Officers of personnel psychological support units;
- Military psychologists.

Educational Process
In the course of training military aviation specialists at the tactical level, the Flight Faculty is responsible for theoretical and simulator training required for admission to flight operations.
The educational process is delivered by highly qualified academic staff with extensive scientific and pedagogical experience, significant military service records and flight experience, and participation in peacekeeping missions. The faculty includes Doctors of Science, PhD holders, Professors, and Associate Professors.
Training Facilities
The Faculty’s educational and material base is equipped with modern technology that ensures a high level of theoretical, methodological, and practical training for graduates.
For practical training of future pilots and navigators, the Faculty operates a Training Simulation Complex (aviation simulators) equipped with advanced modern simulators.
Flight Training
Cadets undergo flight training on aircraft and helicopters:
- After completion of the second year of study — at flight schools;
- During the fourth year of study — at the University’s training aviation brigade.
During training, cadets master:
- Light aircraft;
- L-39 aircraft;
- An-26 aircraft;
- Light helicopters;
- Mi-2MSB, Mi-8MT(V), Mi-8MSB(V) helicopters.
At the Department of Flight Operation and Combat Use of Aircraft, cadet pilots receive training using modern computer technologies. The training is aimed at developing intellectual abilities essential for future pilots, including professional thinking, attention, and memory.
